Ever since I was in college, fashion has become a significant part of my life. Being my curious self, I've also known my friends and family's take on fashion. But my curiosity doesn't end there. There are times that I also wonder what the celebrities' take on fashion. Few days ago, I was given the privilege to ask questions for Asia's Song bird, Regine Velasquez. Here are the questions that I was able to come up with. :)
How do you describe your personal style?
Before, medyo may pagka punkista yung normal clothing ko. Sira-sirang jeans paired with high heels, so ganun ako magdamit. Medyo classic mga tops paired with barongbado jeans or barongbado shoes, ganun ang style ko.
Who is your fashion icon?
My fashion icon dati pa, idol na idol ko talaga si Pops, kay feeling ko magaling talaga siya magdamit. Yung pang ordinary clothes niya. Ang galing-galing niyang mag damit.
Before kasi, when I was starting, I was masipag to research what's new, what's not. And then I remember before kung anong uso, hindi yun isusuotin ko. I wanna be different. Dati kasi pag may nauso, specially in the 80's or 90's, we all wear the same thing! Nag iiba lang yung kulay yung parang ganun, and I hated that. Walang masyadong individuality. So if ever may bagong uso, I really veer away from that. Kung uso ang long hair, I'll cut my hair. Kung uso ang long skirt, I'll be wearing mini skirt or pants. Masipag ako noon eh, masipag ako mag research. I do my shopping outside the Philippines. I usually go to Hong Kong to shop for the whole year, 1 year worth of clothing. Ganun ginagawa ko before.
What is your everyday outfit?
Jeans and t-shirt. Actually I love wearing dresses, yung mga sun dress mga ganun because it's really comfortable. Gustong gusto ko ganun clothing kasi mainit dito, ma presko siya. But now that I'm a mom, I wear pants more now. I weare jeans more now.
Do you think that your outfit affects your performance?
It shouldn't. It shouldn't affect your performance really because that's different. I've learned how to sing using a corset. I've learned how to breathe, singing using a corset. I don't know how I did that, but I learned how to do that.
If you could wear anything at a concert, what would it be?
I pretty much wore everything since I've been singing all my life. Kasi pag concert, you never gonna wear comfortable clothing. The shoes that you wear, you know atleast sanay ako. Hindi siya pang concert. I have to find a comfortable shoes pag concert kasi you'll be wearing that for 2 hours. The thing is when you change your clothing, you change your shoes. And most of the time these shoes are not really that comfortable because they are high. Even they are comfortable, after awhile of wearing high heel shoes, sakit na.
Do you have a favorite look during performances?
Usually I wear show gowns. Yun ang laging suot kasi syempre kailangan e showcase mo yung mga gowns na sinusuot. Kasama yun sa show, kasama yun sa spectacle yung gowns sinusuot. In my younger years, mga uso ngayon ay nasuot ko na noon.
